|Tiyaila resides in North Preston and is a student at Ross Road School. She is one of Canada’s and indeed Nova Scotia’s most gifted 15-year-old vocalist who has been annointed with a golden and captivating voice. Tiyaila holds the distinction of being the first Canadian to perform and win first place at the famous Apollo Theatre, New York, U.S.A.
Tiyaila’s journey towards artistic excellence commenced in North Preston at the age of 5 with the St. Thomas Baptist Church explorers Girls. Her peers have recognized her musical talents with an appointment as junior Leader of the Explorers Girls. She enjoys being a member of the Jongleur Artist Group and the Junior Choir. Tiyaila attended the Neptune Theatre School and Nova Scotia Maritime School of Performing Arts. From there she excelled beyond the musical expectation of the average child her age and progressively enrolled in private vocal lessons.
She is accumulating an impressive library of certifi cates and awards. She continues to receive numerous invitations to perform in culturally diverse local, national and international venues, including but not limited to the Women’s World Alliance, Jamaica, CBC Radio, CBC T.V., Global T.V., Access Cable, Symphony Nova Scotia, Neptune Theatre Rebecca Cohn, and RCMP, Community, Religious, Education and Government events.
Her community, organizations, and the Halifax Regional School Board have recognized Tiyaila’s outstanding track record as a youth. She has also been featured in two magazines – The BBI’s Business is Jamming Magazine and the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on Women.
Tiyaila’s outstanding musical talent has attracted both Canadian and American record companies. Tiyaila’s strong faith in God affords her the focus and confi dence to rise to the many challenges that faces all cultures.
