|As goes the music, so goes the singer: sexy, passionate, clean and fun, a unique blend of Latin Soul, R & B, and a touch of Pop. Inspired by a wide range of artists, from Michael Jackson, Donna Summer En Vogue, to Gloria Estefan. Thia makes music to move both the soul and the feet.
Like most artists starting out, Thia began at a very young age singing to her stuffed animals and in the local church choir. While in grade school, Thia began her musical education by taking on such instruments as the violin and guitar. In 1989, she took part in the Kiwanis Music Festival in Halifax, singing for her high school choir, which took home fi rst place honors. In 2000, Thia decided to further her musical talents and entered a talent contest at the Marquee called the Mini Apollo hosted by Jamie Sparks. It was a tough audience to please but got loud applause after her rendition of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”. In 2001, after joining MIANS, she met Jon M., with whom she performed backup vocals for two tracks on his 3rd CD “Live At Staynor’s Wharf”, which was taped by CBC. Also, in 2001 she met Garreth Warren, a local celebrity in his own right; she performed backup vocals on three tracks for his CD. She also performed live with him, opening for Universal Soul at the Marquee and at the Attic during the month of May in 2003. In the summer of 2003, through Garreth Warren, she met Lindsay Drummond, well-known local producer and began recording tracks for her debut. The results of which sits before you!! Music that moves the feet and the soul, from the infectious “Dance With Me”, the somber and refl ective “Wherever I Go”, to the hard-hitting “Without You”, Thia
has arrived, ready to take her place among the stars.
