|Gilbert Downey is 16 and lives in Cherry Brook with his parents, Charlene and Gilbert Downey, Sr. and his brother and three sisters.
Gilbert fi rst started singing in the privacy of his bedroom at age 10. He would tape himself and let others listen to him. When his Mom heard him sing, she immediately knew that he should be enrolled in vocal lessons. Gilbert is presently in his third year of lessons with Sharon DeWolfe. He enjoys singing and entertaining. He has attended three Music Recitals and also has had the opportunity to have some training with Jeri Brown. Gilbert has had the pleasure of singing “Amazing Grace” when his former school, Graham Creighton Jr. High reopened in February 2002. He is a member of the Cherry Brook Youth Choir and a member of the Cherry Brook Baptist Youth fellowship Choir. He has also had the pleasure of being the guest soloist at the Baptist Youth Conference that was held in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, in July of 2003. His future plans are to finish his High School education and to continue on at Acadia University in the Theater Program.
