Charla is a very "in demand" MC throughout the Halifax area. She first discovered her ability to host entertainment events at a talent show held at the Graywood Lounge, Dalhousie University. (Of course the fact that most of the audience was drunk added to her appeal.) Since then she has gone on to host numerous events including the Black Women's Blues Review; CD Release Parties for Four the Moment, The Nova Scotia Mass Choir and Linda Carvery.
Charla has emceed the African Heritage Month Gala on several occasions and has co-hosted the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children Annual Broadcast and the Multicultural Association of Nova Scotia Public Speaking Contest, for more years than she can remember. Some of you (old people) will also remember her as the co-host UPFRONT, a popular Cable TV show. Charla hosted Get On Board, a gospel concert, at the Arts Centre in Cornerbrook Newfoundland.
Charla emceed Wind beneath My Wings, an appreciation event recognizing municipal workers for their cleanup efforts after the devastation of Hurricane Juan and most recently hosted the 2nd Annual Freedom Festival Gospel Concert.
Charla sings gospel music with her family and credits them with developing her "quick wit". "After-all", she says, "With seven children at the table, you got to talk mighty fast to get the last piece of chicken."
